Arfa Karim’s brief Introduction and Achievements
Arfa Karim was born to a Jatt Randhawa family in 1995, who lived in adjacent of Faisalabad, a renowned industrial city of Pakistan. She got her early education from her hometown’s schools. She was a very brilliant student and did exceptionally when at a very young age of 9, she became the youngest certified professional by Microsoft in the world in 2004. This position was kept by her until 2008. After listening to her outstanding performance in information technology, she was invited by Bill Gates to visit the headquarters of Microsoft in America. Bill Gates praised her wholeheartedly during this meeting. Arfa also wrote a poem to pay a compliment to Bill Gates.
Arfa’s Acclamation at National Level
After her arrival, Arfa had several interviews on every known television channels and newspapers were filled with headlines of her incredible success. Arfa Karim received the “Fatimah Jinnah Gold Medal” in the field of science and technology in August 2005. This award was presented by Shaukat Aziz, the Prime Minister of Pakistan at that time. She also received the “Salaam Pakistan Youth Award” from President of Pakistan in August 2005. Arfa Karim then received the “Pride of Performance Award” from President of Pakistan. This award is a very prestigious civil award given to those people who have done distinction in their specific fields for a long time. Arfa was the first youngest Pakistani who received this award.
A Symbol of Passion and Endless Struggle
Arfa was a genius who astonished the world by achieving extraordinary success at the very early age of nine. She might continue working hard to achieve more success in her field but life did not give her more time. She suffered from a rare medical condition in December 2011. She was unable to recover from this condition unfortunately, and this shining star of our country breathed her last on January 14, 2012. she was just sixteenth at the time of her death.
The government of Pakistan built a science and technology park in her honour in Lahore, Pakistan. The name of this park is “Arfa Software Technology Park”. The brightest minds from all over the country are getting training there in the field of science and technology.
Arfa Karim will remain a beacon of hope and motivation for the Pakistani nation, especially for girls. She has become a symbol of passion and endless struggle for Pakistani youth. During her short life period, she did magnificent and incredible deeds which became an example of the bright face of Pakistan round the globe.
