Sarfraz Ahmed who is 31 year old, born on 22nd of May in city of lights Karachi Pakistan. He belongs to a middle class Urdu speaking family. Sarfraz graduated as an Electrical Engineer from Dawood University of engineering and technology that is situated in Karachi. Also He was just 10 years old when he memorized Holy Quran and became a Hafiz-e-Quran. He was Passionate for cricket since his early age, in of the interview he gave he told that he used to play cricket after school without his father’s permission. As his father believed that cricket had no scope. But he remained determined to his passion and did not gave up. Today Sarfraz is father to a beautiful boy Abdullah who he considers as a lucky charm for his cricket career. And husband to Syeda Khushbakht Shah-He tied the knot back in 2005.
Sarfraz Ahmed is a wicket-keeper batsman who plays international cricket for Pakistan, but his journey of reaching there and rising as a nation hero is full of his hard work and struggles. He got his chance to secure a spot into team after his outclass performance in the under 19 team in 2006. The rivals in the final of that event were India; Sarfraz confidently took charge of the team and performed extra-ordinarily well. Pakistan batted first and was not able to score a decent runs against India. But Sarfraz took this pressure bravely. He boosted the morale of other team players with his calming words. And team Pakistan was able to bowl out India only on 71 runs only and grabbed the winning trophy due to Sarfraz brilliance captaincy. And this marked the first great victory of his career. Kamran Akmal has been a regular wicket-keeper for Pakistan cricket team. But In 2007, Kamran who had finger injury in a one day test series between India and Pakistan resulted in ruling him out for Pakistan team. Ultimately, Pakistan needed a wicketkeeper; Sarfraz Ahmed was called up by Pakistan selection committee as a substitute of Kamran Akmal. And this is how Sarfraz made his official first team debut on 18th of November, in Jaipur India.
In 2008, Sarfraz Ahmed was selected over Kamran Akmal in 2008. Also this time Sarfraz did not disappointed his selection and performed spectacularly. Sarfraz made his Test match debut on 14th Janurary 2010, against Australia. Again replacing kamran akmal who was not performing well and was putting team at great losses.
Co-incidentally His debut to both ODI and Test cricket though was unexpected. He was picked for the similar ODI series in India in 2007 and in Tests during 2009-10 was flown to Australia for a match at Hobart. Unluckily his one off-Test performance made a setback for his cricket career for the next few years. But in 2012 Asia Cup Pakistan needed someone to stand strong and take charge with smart planning. This was when Sarfraz made his place and took charge. He rescued team Pakistan with a daring 46* against Bangladesh and brining Asia Cup home.
This made Sarfraz come back into the Test team for the tour to be held in South Africa in 2013. There were noticeable hurdles for him but he seems to slowly get better as the tour progressed. The time changed for a good and the year 2014-15 turned out to be an exceptional one for Sarfraz. He played an Innings of 96 runs in just 85 balls against lanka, and many against Australia and New Zealand in following Test series. He became the 7th Pakistani wicket keeper to score 1000 Test runs, in 28 innings’.
He played 2015 world cup for Pakistan cricket team, He open in a must win game against South Africa and he yet again performed well and delivered run-a-ball 48 runs. He was also awarded the Man of the Match award.
In Pakistan Super League (PSL) Sarfraz leads Quetta Gladiators. His team has been both the time in finalists respectively in 2016 and 2017. His successful performance in PSL and winning the heart of crowd led him to the Team Captaincy of Pakistan Cricket Team for both ODI and T20. He continues to win the hearts by winning ICC Champions Trophy in 2017 for Pakistan through his performance and leading the team of youngsters who were new to the experience. That Great win is still memorable for his fans and all the Pakistani. He continues to make the headlines for days after that win. No Pakistani can get over the win over India.
