Pakistan ended their memorable tour of New Zealand with a historic win in their third and final Women’s ODI in Christchurch on Monday, December 18. This was Pakistan Women’s first win and only their second win against the White Ferns in a Women’s ODI in New Zealand. More than their opposition in 17 matches played so far. With the series final tied, a super-over was needed to separate the two teams.
Just earlier this month, Pakistan scripted a historic T20I series win against New Zealand in women’s cricket. The Nida Dar-led visitors beat the White Ferns 2-1 in the series after winning the first two matches.
However, the ODI series did not go their way as they lost the first two matches and conceded an unbeaten 2-0 lead against New Zealand. Playing with pride and aiming to end the series on a high, the Pakistani women stepped up and gave birth in Christchurch on Monday.
The third ODI, which went down to the wire, saw the two teams end their innings level on 251, taking the contest to a high-pressure crucible in a super over. Pakistan suffered a heartbreaking 1-wicket defeat after scoring 220 in the second ODI but was more calm and under pressure in the series finale on Monday.
SUPER OVER STARS
Pakistan scored 11 runs in the super over, bowled by Amelia Kerr. Alia Riaz opened with a boundary and added two doubles with Fatima Sana in the Super Over and a double in the final. Pakistan entrusted the bowling responsibility of the super over to left-arm orthodox bowler, Sadia Iqbal, after which he conceded only 31 runs including 2 maidens in 10 overs.
SADIA OUT DEVINE IN SUPER OVER
Sadia went ahead despite hitting Sophie Devine for a six in the super-over as she ensured New Zealand were restricted to 8. Sadia dismissed Amelia Kerr in the very first ball of the Super Over and also claimed the wicket of Devine as New Zealand were bowled out in the match. Super over with one ball.

Player of the match Bisma Maruf played an important role by playing an innings of 68 runs off 86 balls.
Alia Riaz with a patient 44 while Freema Sana provided the much-needed pace with 36 off 33 balls. Natalia Pervez and Najia Alvi scored 20 runs but Pakistan could not cross the finish line chasing 252.
Earlier, New Zealand women scored 251 runs thanks to Amelia Kerr’s sensational 77 and Maddie Green’s unbeaten 65. Sadia Iqbal was the top bowler for Pakistan while Nashra Sindhu and Ghulam Fatima took 2 wickets each.
